Doctoral projects associated with this study

  • Mr Tristan Forester (MEd TESOL)

Mr Tristan Forester (MEd TESOL, QUT) is undertaking a very timely professional doctorate (EdD) at Griffith Univeristy exploring how the youth mobilise their own cultural and linguistic diversity when designing multimodal resources to assist with their critical literacy; and how teachers respond to these unique designs. The teachers will be asked to consider how they might adjust their teaching/planning on the basis of what they learn from the youth. #closingtheloop!

  • Ms Rowena Wall (MPhil)

Ms Rowena Wall (MPhil, QUT) is undertaking PhD work related to this project at QUT. She’s investigating how migrant and refugee-background youth engage with critical literacy as social practice out of school. Her work will use narrative analysis and produce informative stories from learners engaging with critical literacy practices over time, identifying what works for them when it comes to reading and viewing critically out of school, and what else they need assistance with.
